Saint Joseph - in the Legion's prayers, Saint Joseph's name is invoked following the invocations of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Saint Joseph is the Head of the Holy Family, the protector of the Mother of God, and God himself. The Legion of Mary must ever be mindful and aware of his exemplary virtues as he is a great model for all Christians. 

Saint John the Evangelist - is the 'disciple whom Jesus loved' and is a Patron of the Legion as a model of devotion to the Sacred Heart. Moreover, it was through Saint John to whom, from the Cross at Calvary, on his dying breath, Our Lord Jesus, entrusted his Blessed Mother. It was from this moment that Our Lady's motherhood was proclaimed and Saint John became the representative of all God's new children.

Saint Louis Marie de Montfort - perhaps no other saint in the Church history would have made it more comprehensible on the treatise that Mary is the surest and most efficacious way to find Jesus Christ, His  book "True Devotion to Mary" was the source of inspiration to the early members of the Legion of Mary including Frank Duff that guided the formation of the Legion. "The handbook is full of his spirit. The prayers re-echo his very words. He is really the tutor of the Legion: thus invocation is due to him by the Legion almost as a matter of moral obligation." reflected in all facets of the Legion spirituality, that is through Mary that souls must be approached if they are to find her son, Jesus." Saint Michael the Archangel - he is the zealous defender of the Church against Satan and all the evil spirits that aim in its destruction and the spiritual death of its faithful. He is the patron saint of the chosen people of God (the Jews) and though they turned away from Christ, Saint Michael kept his guardianship of the Jewish people. As such, the Legion must strive lovingly towards the restoration of the chosen people of God. 

Saint Gabriel is an angel who serves as a messenger for God to certain people. He is one of the three archangels. Gabriel is mentioned in both the Old and the New Testaments of the Bible. First, in the Old Testament, Gabriel appears to the prophet Daniel to explain his visions. Gabriel is described as, "one who looked like man," as he interprets Daniel's visions. He speaks to Daniel while he is sleeping. After Gabriel's first visit, Daniel becomes tired and sick for days. Gabriel later visits Daniel again providing him with more insight and understanding in an answered prayer. In the New Testament, Gabriel, described as "an angel of the Lord," first appears to Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist. He tells him, "Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth." Luke 1:13.

Saint Raphael the Archangel was recently (2021) added to the list of Patron Saints of the Legion of Mary. His name is invoked at the Concluding Prayers of the Legion after Saint Michael and Saint Gabriel. Saint Raphael  is known as the angel of healing not least spiritual healing. The Hebrew name Rafa’el means “God heals”. He is also known as the patron saint of travelers, the blind, happy meetings and Christian marriage. (This quote is from the the official Concilium write up of the Legion of Mary to be added in the Legion of Mary Handbook). In addition, Saint Raphael the Archangel, the patron saint of healing, intervenes to heal people from any type of brokenness and pain in the earthly dimension and looks forward to welcoming them to lives in heaven, where they won't need to be healed of anything anymore because they will live in perfect health as God intends.

Saint John the Baptist - Known as the forerunner of Jesus Christ, his cousin, John the Baptist was born through the intercession of God to Zachariah and Elizabeth, who was otherwise too old to bear children. According to scriptures, the Angel Gabriel visited Elizabeth and Zachariah to tell them they would have a son and that they should name him John. Zachariah was skeptical and for this he was rendered mute until the time his son was born and named John, in fulfillment of God's will. When Elizabeth was pregnant with John, she was visited by Mary, and John leapt in her womb. This revealed to Elizabeth that the child Mary carried was to be the Son of God. John began public ministry around 30 AD, and was known for attracting large crowds across the province of Judaea and around the Jordan River. When Jesus came to him to be baptized, John recognized him and said, "It is I who need baptism from you." "He was the type of all legionaries, that is, a forerunner of the Lord, going before him to prepare his way and make straight his paths. He was a model of unshakable strength and devotion to his cause for which he was ready to die, and for which he did die." (From the Legion of Mary Handbook)

Saint Peter - is the apostle on which the Church was built upon by our Lord Jesus Christ was chosen as a Patron of the Legion to signify among others that he Legion is loyal to Rome and to all its ecclesiastical authority. Peter, who was also known as Simon Peter of Cephas, is considered the first Pope. Despite his papacy, Peter had humble beginnings and became one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He was ordained by Jesus in the "Rock of My Church" written in Matthew 16:17-18, which says, "Jesus replied, 'Simon son of Jonah, you are a blessed man! Because it was no human agency that revealed this to you but my Father in heaven. So I now say to you: You are Peter and on this rock I will build my community. And the gates of the underworld can never overpower it.
